Welcome to my website!
I value my reputation as a photographer so it matters to me that anyone coming to my photography for the first time can have confidence in the quality of my work. My prints have been exhibited regularly for thirty years and have been widely published and collected. As Reader at the University of Brighton, I was best known for my large format black and white landscapes that demanded consummate technique. In the digital era I retain a pure approach. However, whatever tools I use, it should always be remembered that, 'cameras don't make pictures;
people do, with their hearts and minds' - and it's an undiminished passion for wild places that I seek to express in my images.
On this website I make my prints available at a reasonable price, independent of any gallery or agency.

John Muir Trust
I support the work of the
John Muir Trust, which aims "to conserve and protect wild places... for the benefit of present and future generations". All my photographs of the North-west Highlands are freely donated to help the Trust 'conserve, campaign and inspire'. Every purchase from this site will, therefore, contribute to the John Muir Trust's important conservation and campaigning work.
